County success!!
The February Yorkshire County Championships proved yet again to be hugely successful for Scunthorpe Anchor, showing that our small club is still up there with the big guns as six new county champions were crowned in the Kelly green of Team Anchor!
Over the three weekends of racing all swimmers pushed themselves and gained PBs,culminating in an incredible amount of top ten finishes and a grand total of 20 medals, listed below…

Gold
Rosie B 50, 100, 200 breast
Maya H 50 back
Boris K 100 breast
Elyse H 50 free

Silver
Rosie B 100 free, 100 back, 200IM
Maya H 200 back
Boris K 50 breast
Martha A 50 breast
Elyse H 50 breast, 100 free

Bronze
Rosie B 50 back, 200 free
Gabi C 100 breast
Maya H 100 back
Boris K 200 breast
Martha A 100 breast

The grand finale of the championships certainly didn’t disappoint in the relays, where the older teams closely missed out on the finals. The younger girls 11-12 squad (with 3/4 still swimming a year young) qualified for both finals, finishing a very respectable 6th place in the free final. The pièce de résistance came in the medley final, where they smashed their race and gained a bronze medal!
Congratulations to all!
